India Post starts ATM services in Punjab – opens 23rd in Ferozepur

India Post ATMopens in Ferozepur

Ferozepur, March 3, 2016:  India Post ATM Unit today opened its ATM in Ferozepur in the Post Office Head Office premises which was inaugurated by Vineet Kumar, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development), Ferozepur.

Initially, the ATM facility has been extended to the Post Office account holder to withdraw cash from their own account in the post office and shortly in the second phase, it will be linked with all the ATMs of the banks.

Kulwant Singh, Supdt. Post Offices, Ferozepur said,  as of now, 402 post offices in the state been interconnected under Core Banking Service (CBS).  So far 22 ATM Machines have been installed and today is the 23rd in Ferozepur.  ATM cards to 250 customers have been issued so far and it will be available on demand to the account holders in the near future.

He further said that recently number of schemes started in the post office is proving a boon to the common man like Jan Suraksha Yojna, Pardhanmantri BimaYojna, Atal Pension Yojna and Sukanya Samridi Yojna.
Vineet Kumar interacting with the media persons said, apart from traditional bank services, India Post is also providing better services  and likely to come at par with the bank services.

 

It’s like a win-win situation for postal authorities with to get more business with higher rate of interest and availability of various schemes for the common man, he added.

 

He advised the postal authorities that since the rural population is the target of the postal authorities for extending various services, a dedicated team must educate to guide them about the operation of ATMs besides getting feedback to bring efficiency in the system.

ADC also assured to give more publicity to the postal schemes with higher  rate of interest, through the BDPOs in the form of leaflets.
