In Punjab, 772 schools are headless Education Department upgraded various schools without adequate staff

Ferozepur, July 17, 2016:  The Punjab Government is not serious about the government schools as is evident from the fact that around 400 Senior Secondary schools are without Principals when there is an addition of another 372 upgraded High Schools, making in all, 772 schools headless.MR GARG FROM MALOUT

Education Department sources said, in the absence of regular head of the school, stop-gap-arrangements are made by giving the duty-charge to the senior most teachers but that too affects the studies of the studies in view of attending of various multifarious duties on day today basis.

Stating this, Sham Lal,  Chief of the Punjab General Category Federation said, earlier the cases for promotion to the post of Principal from Lecture cadre have already been called in respect of general categories up to serial number 1850 of the seniority list and in view of increase in number of vacancies, the cases of Lectures up to serial number 2400 in the seniority order of general category,  may be reviewed for promotion to the post of Principal.

Vijay Garg, Lecturer from Malout said, with the filling up of all posts of Principals of the schools in the state through promotion from the Lecture cadre, none of the school will be headless and simultaneously the junior level posts of teachers can be filled up to complete the staff as per the norm and requirement of the schools.
