Illegal liquor manufacturing units busted along Satluj river
Ferozepur, September 16, 2017: The Ferozepur police unearthed illegal liquor factories operating along the Satluj river and recovered 27,000 ltrs illicit liquor in a joint raid conducted by police and Excise officials at Ali Ke village – known as the hub of illegal liquor smuggling.
However all the persons involved in this illegal trade successfully fled away from the scene by jumping into the river, on seeing the police teams.
As per the information, a joint raid was conducted by the Police and Excise officials by taking the help of the boat. This is the second biggest recovery of illicit liquor after the Assemble elections when too thousands liters of illicit liquor was recovered which to be distributed to allure the voters by the political party workers.
No doubt, regular raids are conducted by the police but today’s raid was conducted on getting a secret information when the raid was conducted following this tip-off along with Excise officials team lead by Parbhjot Singh, Inspector in village Ali Ke and Nihanga Wale Jhughe. At the time of raid, it was revealed that the illicit liquor is being extracted by digging the pots covered with polythene covers.
The entire material after the seizure of huge quantity of illicit liquor, drums and tarpaulins was destroyed in the river.
Since the accused fled away from the spots, the police have registered a case against the unidentified persons and further investigations are on, said police sources.
