GTU Punjab demand rollback of rationalization policy for Primary Schools
Ferozepur, June 21, 2017: With the acceptance of major demand of teachers, the rollback of rationalization instructions for secondary schools by the Education Minister have been welcomed by the Punjab Government Teachers Union – PGTU but not taking action by the DPI(E) for primary department speaks about the intentions of the government.
The PGTU appealed to the Education Minister to rollback the rationalization instructions for Primary Department also.
In fact, the government will use the policy to show the presence of surplus teachers at its schools to save money being spent on their salaries as it claimed the student-teacher ratio in classes had increased, alleged the PGTU. The Union also claimed that the rationalization policy will be misused and it is only to give favour to the influential politicians.
Speaking on this occasion, Neeraj Yadav, Press Secretary said, the Punjab Government in its election manifesto has announced to upgrade the education standard in the government schools. He said, instead of rationalization of staff, the government should fill up the vacant posts so that unemployed youths waiting for appointment could get opportunity for joining the services.
