Ferozepur, December 9, 2015:   The Punjab Government has  agreed to bear Road Over Bridge (ROB) at Level Crossing B-30 on Jalalabad-MKT road, as confirmed by Anuj Parkash, Divisional Rail Manager, Ferozepur Divison whereas the 25 KMs Ferozepur-Patti rail link project is in on dividing line due to lack of funds, which connects Malwa and Majha regions of Punjab and  was given a green signal during 2013 rail budget.

As the sources, the state government has to release the matching grant, besides facilitating land required for any project.

Added here that the Ferozepur-Patti rail link, very vital from the commercial point of view, would decrease the distance between the northern states, including Punjab, capitals of Gujarat and Maharashtra, besides reducing distance between Ferozepur and Amritsar from 118 km to mere 86 km. It would also inter-connect the Malwa and the Majha regions of Punjab. Moreover, it will also shorten the distance between Jammu and Mumbai by 267 km.

DRM stated that the abnormal delay of two years by Railways in constructions of a Road Over Bridge (ROB) at Level Crossing B-30 on Jalalabad Road, Muktsar, on the Kot Kapura-Fazilka Rail Section within  municipal limits, is not on the part of railways as this work had earlier been dropped by the Punjab State Government because of paucity of funds.  However, the matter was recently revived when the PWD Department of Punjab State agreed to bear the total cost of the project.

DRM further said, as of date, the Engineer/Construction Divison,b PWD(B&R), Department Muktsar  has deposited an amount of Rs.16,38,438 towards Planning and Estimate charges. The work has since been transferred to the Construction Department of Northern Railways headed by the Chief Adminsitrative Officer (Construction).

Giving further details, DEN/HW, V.K.Talwar stated that the project was originally mooted in 2009 and substantial correspondence is available on file.

He said, the railways is fully seized of the matter and willing to expedite construction of the ROB in view of the immense demand from local population.

DRM said that as on now, action is required to be taken by the State Government for submission of a General Arrangement Drawing (GAD) and only on the basis of GAD, the railways will decided the license fee and the cost of the structure which are required to be relocated.
