Forest Division Extension organizes District Level Forest Festival/Seminar at Ferozepur
Ferozepur, August 4, 2016: The Department of Forest and Wildlife Protection – Forest Division Extension Bathinda – today organized District Level Forest Festival/Seminar in collaboration with Satluj Eco Club in local Government Girls Secondary School, Ferozepur. Vineet Kumar, Additional Deputy Commissioner was the Chief Guest of the day.
Daljit Singh, Divisional Forest Officer, Bahtinda, Sarbjeet Singh Bedi, Youth Coordinator were special guests of the function. The programme was started by planting saplings at Resource Centre being run for children of special need in the school campus.
Congratulating the students for showing excel in their results, Vineet Kumar, ADC said, Nature has started fighting back with global warming and floods and need of the hour is to make pollution free environment. Youth is the right age when they can be motivated to plant more trees as the survival of mankind depends on continued existence of plants.
He further said, the problem of polluted environment cannot be solved by planting trees only but simultaneously we have to curtail our over consumptions which ultimately becomes waste and causes pollution besides affecting our natural surroundings which comes back to affect us becomes waste and causes pollution.
He appealed to the students to come forward and plant at least five trees at the identified venue and stressed to follow up for their grown to contribute in making the pollution-free environment besides asking them to study the literature by spending daily sometime in the library and also participate in sports activities.
The Seminar was also addressed by Resource Persons, Dr.Mukhtiar Singh, Agri. Development Officer, Simarpal Singh, Horti. Deptt. Mohinder Singh Forest Block Officer, Manpreet Singh Block Officer Forest Extension and Dr.Satinder Singh, National Awardee. All highlighted the importance the trees in the life of human-beings in addition to putting wiser about the serious consequences with the cutting of trees.
The key-note speakers giving a warning and making a reference of significance of earth, air and water said, merely planting three would not absolve of the responsibility rather its taking care is more important and took pledge from all present to protect the environment that protects you, to maintain the circle of life.
On this occasion, out of the students 60 students participated in painting, debate and reciting of poems on the importance of forests and standing first, second and third, were also honoured.
