First Women’s Cricket Championship Held at Ferozepur
Ferozepur May 4, 2018. The first Women’s Cricket Championship was organised by Ferozepur District Cricket Association at Vivekananda World School, Ferozepur today. S. Parminder Singh Pinki, the Member of Legislative Assembly from Ferozepur City was the Chief Guest of the event. The purpose of this Championship was to increase the participation of girls in the world of cricket and inspire girls to participate enthusiastically in cricket championships at district, state, national and international levels.
Today’s event was a humble effort of Vivekananda World School to provide a platform to the girl players to showcase their talent to the world confidently. The school management is committed to organising more of such competitions at even larger scales in future so as to root out the gender biases from the society and motivate the parents to promote the education and sports of the girl children. The girl cricket teams of BSM Sr. Sec. School, Manav Mandir Sr. Sec. School, Sai Public School, Arya Anathalaya School, and HM Sr. Sec School participated in the championship. The team of Manav Mandir Sr. Sec. School beat that of Sai Public School in the final match by 4 runs.
The chief guest S. Parminder Singh Pinki appreciated the efforts put in by Mr Gaurav Sagar Bhaskar, the Chairman, the school staff and management of Vivekananda World School to make the event a grand success. He congratulated the winners and also encouraged the other teams to work harder for future events. Mrs Rosy Mehta, the Principal of Vivekananda World School congratulated Ferozepur District Cricket Association for organising the championship and proposed the vote of thanks to the chief guest and other distinguished guests for gracing the event. The event came to a close with the National Anthem.
Mrs Prabha Bhaskar, Jhalkeshwar Bhaskar, Ravi Sharma, Sukhwinder Attari, Balbir Bath, Gogi Pyareana, Yadwinder Singh, Parminder Handa, Santokh Singh, Amit Dhawan, Salwinder Bhalla, Amarjeet Singh Bhogal, Ranjeet Singh Josan, Tinku, Amit Sharma, the school staff and students all were present at the event.
