Ferozepur, May 7, 2015: Taking a historical decision by the Punjab Government, the Corporations/Municipalo Councils/Nagar Panchayats would charge Gau Cess on certain items and income from this will be used for the upkeep of cows. Apart from this, the electricity bills of all the gaushalas in the state would also be borne by the government.

Kimti Bhagat, Chairman Punjab Gau Sewa Commission was here today to have meeting with the representatives of gaushalas and representatives of various social organizations.

In the meeting, detailed discussions were held on cow slaughtering, smuggling, rehabilitation, safety, completely stopping of illegal cow ….  and other cruelties and also about establishing of new gaushala over a land of 25 acres.

Kimti Bhagat, Chairman speaking on this occasion said, at present 472 gaushalas are registered which are looking after about 2.80 lakh cows and most of them are running with the contribution of donors.  The government has taken a decision to charge cow cess on certain items by the Corporations/Municipal Councils/Nagar Panchayats and the entire income of about Rs.6-70 crores would be spent on the welfare of the cow livestock.

He further said,  the government has also taken a historical decision to bear the electricity bills of all the registered guashalas for which the Punjab Gau Sewa Commission has to be moved for exemption.

He asked the officers to implement the amended laws by the Punjab Government, for the safety of cows, treatment etc.

He also informed that the Punjab Government is providing the 50 per cent subsidy for establishing dairy farms and for race eugenic of desi shahiwala cows and gaushala will be provided with Shan Bull at Rs.2500 only.

Punjab Gau Sewa Commission has no conflict with the farmers rather a fight only with the butchers, merciless and hard-hearted men.

Er.DPS Kharbanda said, new gaushala will be established shortly at Ferozepur over 25 acre of land for which the consent was given by the Santan Dharam Gaushala.
