Ferozepur police nabbed 29 drug smugglers during September with heroin, opium, poppy husk
Ferozepur, September 10, 2022: On a tip-off, the Ferozepur police claimed to have nabbed one smuggler working as drug pusher, with recovery of heroin and opium and during the month of September, 2022 as of today, 24 cases have been registered while 29 drug smugglers have been arrested.
SSP Surendera Lamba, addressing the media persons said, the team under the tutelage of Gurmit Singh Cheema, SP(Inv.) and Fateh Singh Brar, DSP (Inv.) as per the special campaign going on the in the district against the unscrupulous elements, consisting of Mohit Dhawan, CIA Incharge, Ajmer Singh, SI, working swiftly on the in-puts nabbed Arun, near Khai Road, T-Point near Bajaj Dairy, with recovery of 800 gm heroin and 1 kg opium, riding a motorcycle no.PB-05T-07921, at the ‘naka’.
He said, during the preliminary investigation, it has come on surface that the accused had been involved in this illegal activity for the last 2-3 moths and has sold two consignments by arranging the supplies.
SSP said, the accused has been booked under NDPS Act Sections 18/21 and will be produced before the court to get police remand for in-depth investigation with his backward and forward history and more clues likely to crack the nexus of suppliers and pushers.
He further said, during the month of September, 24 cases against drug smugglers with recovery 1.837 kg heroin, 31 kg poppy husk, 1 kg opium and 50 gm intoxicant powder has been recovered and 29 criminals have been arrested.
