Ferozepur, May 20, 2015: The Government of India will upgrade 500 cities of the country under Atal Mission for Rejuvenation & Urban (AMRUT) and the border town and historic city, Ferozepur has been included in this project among total 18 cities from the state.

Under the Smart Cities Mission and the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation of 500 cities (AMRUT) with outlays of Rs.48,000 crore and Rs.50,000 crore respectively. Under the Smart Cities Mission, each selected city would get central assistance of Rs.100 crore per year for five years.

Ashok Gupta Secretary Local Government was here today to disclose when Kamal Sharma, Punjab BJP President and Er.DPS Kharbanda Deputy Commissioner were also present at the Circuit House.

 

Gupta informed that 18 cities of the state have been brought under Atal Mission for Rejuvenation & Urban (AMRUT) under which the cities will be developed as ‘A’ Grade point of view. He said, the work on the project AMRUT will commence shortly and there will be no shortage of funds.

 

It may be added that earlier on the visit of PM on March 24, the citizens have high expectations of announcement. Even, the city was not brought under 100 Smart Cities of the country.

 

Conveying thanks to Prime Minister for this project, Kamal Sharma said, with the launching of AMRUT project, the long pending demand of the residents of citizens have been acceded to for the over-all development of the city.  He said, the Rail Under Bridge (RUB) to control the traffic in a better manner,  between Ferozepur City and Ferozepur City, will also be constructed at Basti Tankan Wali.

 

Er.Kharbanda said, the city will become A Grade with the development under the said project.
