Ferozepur DLSA provides Rs.13 lac to three rape victims
Ferozepur, April 30, 2022: Three awards were passed in favour of three rape victims, by CJM-Cum-Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Ekta Uppal, under the guidance of Virinder Agarwal District and Sessions Judge-cum-Chairman District Legal Services Authority.
Compensation to a victim of rape is undeniably important for her rehabilitation, especially in a society where the victim of rape is treated worse than the perpetrator. This not only helps the victim financially but also helps her in retaining a normal life in society.
The compensation of Rs.5 lac , Rs.4 lac and Rs.4 lac were awarded to be paid compensation under the victim compensation scheme after completing all the required documentation.
In this regard, Ekta Uppal, CJM said that the details of the victims could not be made public being the rape cases. She however, assured that if in future rape victims can seek help from DLSA and the same would be disposed of immediately on the spot under the Victim Compensation Scheme.
CJM said that compensation to rape victims in an integral aspect of ‘right to life’. The victim has to suffe r agony and pain. The compensation is awarded for her rehabilitation.
But this is a very bad phenomenon and unfortunate for our society and every man should think that they too have women and girls in their houses. So all must respect every woman and girl child in our society enabling our own daughters and sisters to move freely in the society more comfortably.
