Female prisoners clash in Central Jail, two hospitalized
Ferozepur, March 1, 2023: An incident of clash between two women inmates came to notice and both were injured inside the Central Jail.
Cases of fighting inside the jail are constantly coming to fore, similarly, once again in the Central Jail Ferozepur. A case of a scuffle between a female prisoner and an under trial female prisoner has come to the fore. Both have been admitted to the Civil Hospital after the clash inside the jail and are under treatment.
In the past, Ferozepur Jail has been in headlines for the recovery of many banned items including mobiles, drugs, Zarda etc. Even an inmate on parole a few days back confirmed the recovery of an item after charging a huge amount.
Both the female inmates are levelling charges against each other for being involved in selling drugs in the jail.
Palo female inmate had alleged that drugs were being sold at the behest of the female deputy superintendent of the jail. Palo, who is facing trial under Section 302 said she raised the voice against the sale of drugs inside the jail about the involvement of Sumittra for selling drugs inside the jail and informed the female Deputy Superintendent. At the same time, the prisoner Sumitra, alleged that while she was standing, Palo took off her earring, on which they had an argument.
Gurnam Lal, Superintendent Jail when contacted said, we have intensified the vigil inside the jail and strictness on the inmates, to which they are frustrated and when sidelined, they find an excuse to come out of it. It was a routine clash between the inmates over some issues and nothing serious. However, the matter is under investigation and all the allegations leveled on behalf of the female prisoners are baseless.
