Farmers should adopt crop diversification and agriculture based allied activities, to boost their income : Sekhon

and techniques at the local grain market in cantonment area. The Camp was inaugurated by Janmeja Singh Sekhon, Cabinet Minister and Er.DPS Kharbanda, Deputy Commissioner.

 

Addressing the farmers, Janmeja Singh Sekhon said, the farmers should go for allied activities like dairy farming, poultry, fisheries, horticulture, food processing, to boost their income which will give a kick to crop diversification.  He also advised the farmers to cultivate the varieties of crops and use of pesticides, as per instructions of the Agri. Deptt. and recommendations of the Punjab Agri University.

 

Sekhon also advised the farmers to stop stubble burning and should be mixed in the land itself as per the advice of experts as it increases the fertility of the land.  The farmers should bring the produce in the market for sale only on its full maturity so that they may not have problem in its marketing.

 

Er.DPS Kharbanda  in his address assured the farmers that they will not face any problem in the coming wheat procurement season. The farmers must get their soil-water tested and avail the benefits on Soil Health Cards.  The farmers should also avail the facility of various farmer friendly schemes  introduced by the Punjab Government, he added.

 

Welcoming the guests, on this occasion, Dr.Satinder Kaur Sandhu, Chief Agri. Officer said, for purchase of any agriculture related material, the agriculture department must be obtained and against proper billing.
