Farmers protest to continue over release of 3 farmers and guarantee for MSP, Central govt still silent despite 20 persons’ sacrifice price

Ferozepur, May 19, 2024: The sacrifice of 20 people including two women, is a big price during the farmers’ protest, under the banner of Kisan Mazdoor Morcha (KMM) and Samyukta Misan Morcha (Non-Political), who had been protesting at the Shambhu and Khanauri borders ever since February 13, when the Centre government is still silent over the main two issues – release of three farmers arrested by Haryana government and legal guarantee for minimum support price (MSP) for crops.

20 person sacrifice price in farmers’ protests – 18 males, 2 females
Shubhkaram Singh (21) of Balloh is the youngest to sacrifice
Tajveer Panjokhra from Ambala said, among those who sacrificed their lives were 18 males and two females with Shubhkaram Singh (21) as the youngest and a victim of bullets during the agitation at the Shambhu and Khanauri borders. He is reported to have been allegedly killed by a bullet from the Haryana side on February 21. However, a zero FIR was lodged with no further action. Shubhkaram is associated with the BKU Sidhupur farmer union and is survived by his two sisters, grandmother, father and mother having only around 3 acres of farmland.

SKM (Sanhyukt Kisan Morcha) is to hold its Kisan Mahapanchayat in Jagraon on May 21. The farmer’s outfits have announced to hold a big congregation at the Shambhu and Khanauri borders on May 22 on the completion of 100 days of their protest on Punjab-Haryana borders. While farmers’ organisation BKU (Ekta Ugrahan), along with labourers, employees and student groups, has planned a rally in Barnala on May 26.
Sarwan Singh Pandher, Sukha, Ramandeep Singh Mann, farmer leaders, condemning the harassment to the farmers said, BJP magic on all fronts have failed. We will continue with our protests till our demands are accepted.
