Family refuses to cremate the victim, keeps body outside DC office

Ferozepur December 31, 2018: Family members of  Mohinder who became the victim of poll violence on December 30 at Lakhmir Ke Hithar in Mandir Block, refused to cremate the body till the arrest of culprits. The family members along with villagers kept the body outside that gate of DC office here today and stage a dharna.Although police had registered the FIR no arrest has been reported so far.

The FIR was registered on the statement of Jarnail Singh son of the deceased against ten persons – Sukhdev Singh Sodhi, Harpreet Singh alias Happy, Nishan Singh, Manpreet Singh, Jaswant Singh, Daljit Singh, Harman Singh, Anup Bhatti Luvpreet Singh alias Lavi and 15-20 unidentified persons under Section 302, 148,149 IPC.

Jarnail Singh in his statement stated that on December 30 on the day of Panchayat Polls at Govt. Primary School Lkhmir Ke Hittar, his father Mohinder Singh 55, mother Rano Bibi were going towards school for voting, came to know about the booth capturing and stopping the villagers to cast their vote when they entered the booth and put the votes in the ballot box by forcibly fixing the stamps on them.  On opposing by the villagers, the tried to flee away on the Scorpio and Toyota car but hit his father Mohinder Singh and he was taken to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Ranjit Singh has been appointed as IO into the case.

Today after about one hour, DSP met the protesters and on his assurance to arrest the accused within two days, the dharna was lifted.
