Excise, police cops recover 7,000 ltrs ‘lahan’, 500 bottles illicit liquor in Ferozepur
Ferozepur, May 2, 2021: Continuing with a check to crackdown hideouts for extracting ‘lahan’ and illicit liquor, the excise and police cops on Sunday, jointly conducted a raid in the enclaves of river Satluj in the surrounds of villages Gatti Khunder and Chandiwala and recovered 7,000 lts ‘lahan’ in tarpaulins and 500 bottles of illicit liquor in five rubber tubes. The raid by the excise force was supervised by excise inspector Gurbaksh Singh.
Whereas during April 2021, 1,82,850 ltrs ‘lahan’ and 458 ltrs illicit liquor recovered and in May, this is the second recovery. Earlier on May 1, 9,000 ltrs ‘lahan’ was recovered from village Mannu Machian in Makhu.
During the raid, the recovered ‘lahan’ and illicit liquor was unclaimed and destroyed on the spot to avoid its misuse. However, seven tarpaulins and 5 rubber tubes were taken into custody and police informed to proceed further in the case.
