Divisional Railway Hospital celebrates World Breastfeeding Week
Ferozepur, August 9, 2016: During the World Breastfeeding Week 2016 – Divisional Railway Hospital organized a week long seminar on the most sensitive issue of breastfeeding which is not only the cornerstone of a child’s healthy development; it is also the foundation of a country’s development.
The World Breastfeeding Week 2016 theme is on raising awareness of the links between breastfeeding and the Sustainable Development Goals. By recognizing that breastfeeding is a key to sustainable development, we will value our well being from the start of life, respect each other and care for the world we share.
Speaking about the breastfeeding, the Divisional Medical Officer Dr. Dinesh Pathak stressed upon the women to feed the newly born babies by their breast rather than feeding with the bottle.
Giving a word of advice, to all the pregnant women – who had participated in the seminar – that the children below one year has the low capacity to combat the disease like diarrhea and the mother’s milk has the capability to fight against such diseases.
Dr. Pathak informed that the first milk after delivery which is very thick and yellowish in colour which is known as colostrums, must be fed to the newly born babies because it helps the newly born children to strength the immunization of the children which helps to secure the children from many diseases. It is the immune system that fights against the diseases.
Dr. Pathak said that the mother’s feed develop the brain of the child and lessen the risk of the breast cancer of the mother too. It also strengthens the relation of mother and child. Because of all these benefits of the mother’s milk, the breastfeeding proves to be the most blissful gift of nature.
