DEO remained confined to his chamber for 4 hrs – Protest by SSA/RMSA Teachers Union

Feerpzepur,July 14, 2016 :The RMSA and SSA Teachers Union staged a dharna on Wednesday and gheraoed the DEO office and confined him in his office. They were demanding release of their salaries, which had not been paid for the past seven months.

Addressing the gathering, union president Jagsir Singh said that due to the non-payment of their salaries most of the teachers had been facing financial crisis. Protesters staged the dharna and confined the DEO in his office for four hours. They even shut the doors of the office. Later, on when the DGSE office assured the protesters that the salaries would be paid within a week, they cancelled the dharna and allowed the DEO to go out.

Meanwhile, the Sanjha Teachers Morcha of various teachers unions announced that a large number of teachers will go on one-day hunger strike on July 14 outside the office of DEO. The union members were demanding regularisation of teachers recruited on contractual base, release of salaries of RMSA and SSA Teachers, release of contract of 61 teachers, prevent political interference in transfers, release of balance DA, declare the Sixth Pay Commission.
