Defense Services Welfare celebrates Armed Forces Flag Day in Ferozepur
Ferozepur, December 7, 2023: Armed Forces Flag Day was celebrated by the Defense Services Welfare office Ferozepur under the tutelage of Superintendent District Defense Services Welfare Office Amrik Singh Boha.
Present among others were Superintendent, DC office Mrs. Prem Kumari, Amrik Singh, Personal Assistant, who performed the flag hoisting ceremony in the presence of other staff members.
Soon after India achieved independence, a need arose to support and encourage the welfare of the defence personnel. On August 28, 1949, a committee was set up under the then Defence Minister of India, which decided to observe Flag Day annually on December 7.
Deputy President District Military Board Ferozepur Colonel (Retd) JS Dhiman, the ex-servicemen, their spouses and their families gathered at the District Defense Services Welfare office and enlightened about the importance of Army Flag Day country. It refreshes the memory of the immortal martyrs, who have sacrificed themselves for our tomorrow. On this day, the services and sacrifices rendered by the security forces for the country are remembered, which gives courage to the families of the soldiers and gives them confidence that the people of the country are with them in all the bad and good times.
<span;>He said that to maintain the unity and integrity of the country, many soldiers were martyred and many were disabled forever. The government provides various kinds of assistance to such families from time to time with great sympathy, but Armed Forces Flag Day India provides a golden opportunity to every citizen of this state to show their respect and sympathy to their brave soldiers and their families. This is the reason as to why every citizen of India celebrates Flag Day and donates with open heart. The money collected as donations is deposited in the Armed Forces Flag Day Fund of the state government which is used for ongoing schemes for the welfare of the families of soldiers who have died for the country and disabled soldiers and other needy ex-servicemen.
On this occasion, checks of a total amount of Rs. 1,40,000 were also distributed to 14 beneficiaries by Colonel Dhiman and staff of District Defense Services Welfare office Ferozepur. On the occasion of Flag Day, all the citizens of Ferozepur district, private schools, colleges, hospitals, departments and organizations were appealed to give donations with open heart and said that let us also pay homage to those heroic martyred soldiers who have sacrificed their lives for the safety of the country without caring about his precious life in difficult situations, which will remain unforgetable He said that the amount donated for this auspicious cause will be tax-free by the Government of India.

On this occasion, employees of District Defense Services Welfare Office Ferozepur Nipun Khungar, Harpreet Singh, Jagraj Singh, Mrs. Deepka Mehta, Harrison, Daniel Raju, Raj Kumar, ex-servicemen widows and families of ex-servicemen were present.
