DC Ferozepur orders suspension of two officials of Health Department for dereliction of duty

 

Ferozepur, April 18, 2019: Taking a stringent action over two clerks of the health department for not transferring the incentives to pregnant women for institutional deliveries, the Deputy Commissioner Chander Gaind ordered the civil surgeon to suspend them and initiate departmental action against them. 

 

In a monthly meeting of District Health Society, Gaind took the notice of the fact that health department had merely cleared only seven and four per cent incentives of pregnant women in the district hospital and Zira hospital respectively and all remaining cases are pending with the department. 

 

He directed the civil surgeon, Dr Rajinder Kumar, to clear the all pending cases within three days and send him a compliance report. Further, he asked him to improve the institutional deliveries as the district has only 47 per cent such deliveries which are too low and needed to be improved. 

 

Gaind told that the seven to eight per cent deliveries are being done by quacks which must be eliminated. Further, he asked the civil surgeon to increase the nursing staff in small-town level community health centres.

 

Moreover, he showed anger over 71 per cent registration of pregnant women with the health department and told Dr.Kumar to achieve 100 per cent target by creating awareness and training ASHA and Anganwadi workers. Similarly, he told the health department to improve the target of immunization from 86 per cent to 100 per cent. 

 

The deputy commissioner also asked the doctors and nursing staff to ensure proper vaccination of the newborn in the hospital after the delivery. 

 

He also asked the department to gear up for dengue and asked them to ensure compliance of all guidelines regarding this. 

 

Civil Surgeon Dr Rajinder Kumar said that the 306 dengue and 15 Malaria cases were reported last year in the district. 

 

DC ordered the EO Charanjeet Singh to prepare the fogging schedule in the district and asked the health department to start creating awareness among the general public regarding dry day and regular cleaning of desert coolers, refrigerators and not to accumulate the water.  He also asked the officials to ensure cleaning of desert coolers in their offices to prevent the disease and ordered the MC to challan the negligent residents. 

 

In another meeting, the deputy commissioner showed his anger over the digging of the roads and told that there is not any coordination between MC and water supply and sanitation department. He told them to work in coordination so that the people do not suffer due to their work. He asked officials of both the departments to ensure not to dig any road without a repairing plan. Digging and repairing must go on simultaneously. 

On the occasion, ADC Mr Ravinder Pal Singh Sandhu, Assistant Commissioner Mr Ranjit Singh and others were present.
