DAY-2 CASO search operation at 12 drug hotspots, Rly Stn, Bus Stands in Ferozepur, 5 held
Ferozepur, June 17, 2024: On the second day, a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) was carried out in Ferozepur at drug hotspots, Railway Stations, Bus Stands, as a part of an ongoing drive against drugs and anti-social elements launched as per directions of Chief Minister and DGP Punjab.
In this operation, under the tutelage of DIG, Ferozepur Range Ajay Maluja and SSP Soumiya Mishra, a special search operation was carried out at the suspicious places, drug hotspots, railway station and bus stands with the support of a team consisting of 2 SPs, 6 DSPs, 14 Inspectors/SHOs/NGOs/EOP and around 200 cops. The operation was carried out by keeping adequate security arrangements at the bus stands and railway station, to maintain law and order besides tightening.
Maluja said, “I am personally supervising this operation going on at the state level and in Ferozepur Range in all the three districts – Ferozepur, Fazilka and Tarn Taran – and a thorough search operation, by making the A, B and C categories spots, was conducted being international border districts and vulnerable to smuggling.
Soumiya Mishra SSP said that apart from the hotspot points, we also checked two-wheelers and four-wheelers during the operation, challaned the violators and impounded certain vehicles.
In this CASO operation, 5 unscrupulous persons were held with recovery of 14 gm heroin, 50 ltr lahan, 9 bottles of illegal liquor and one sand-filled tractor trolley. Apart from these, 75 challans were issued for violation of traffic rules and impounding of 514 vehicles. In addition, 2 habitual criminals were also bound under section 110 of CRPC.
