Ferozepur, February 8: With the collective efforts – Kamal Sharma, Punjab BJP President, Parminder Sinki Pinki, Congress MLA and a month long protests by various local NGOs, youths, AISF, NSUI, the Ministry of Railways have given a final nod to start to start daily train between Ferozepur-Chandigarh has materialized with Centre sanctioning the train that would run between the two cities from February 11.
While thanking the Union Government for fulfilling this long pending demand of the border areas and Malwa region, all are now claiming the credit for chugging off the train from Ferozepur. However, with the commissioning of this train, it would boost the commercial prospectus on the region despite providing a big relief for the daily commuters.
Kamal Sharma, Punjab BJP President said that trial run of this train would be done on February 9 and 10 and the formal start of the train would be done from February 11.
Sources in the Railway said there would be 12 bogies in the train and presently no AC car had been provided.
He stated that the train would start from Ferozepur in the morning at 7:30 am and would reach Chandigarh via Talwandi, Moga, Jagraon, Ludhiana, Samrala and Mohali. Similary, this train would return to Ferozepur in the evening and reach the city at 9:30 pm.
Notably, the state BJP chief, who hails from Ferozepur has played key role in the start of this train by taking up the issue with former Union Minister of Railways Sadan and Gowda few months back and has also raised this demand before present Railway Minister, Suresh Prabhu.
State BJP chief, while thanking Prime Minister Sh Narendra Modi and Railways Minister Suresh Prabhu, said that earlier there was no direct train connecting Ferozepur to Chandigarh and sanctioning of this train would prove as a big relief for the people of this region and expected to boom the trade.
Starting of this train is a big achievement and would be a great relief to hundreds of passengers who had to commute between the state capital and the border town on a regular basis besides giving a boost to the economic prospects of the border region.
Regarding Ferozepur-Patti train, Kamal Sharma said, he is already in touch with the Railway Ministry and the issue is under active consideration.
