Counter Intelligence cracks new modus-operandi of smuggling

Ferozepur, January, 20,2018:  The drug smuggling along the 553 km Indo-Pak border of Punjab has been thwarted a number of times by the security agencies and on Friday the Counter Intelligence Wing got success in nabbing one smuggler with the recovery of heroin and drug money.

Divulging with the details to the media persons, Ravinder Pal Singh Sidhu, AIG, Counter Intelligence, Ferozepur said, a CI team led by Rajwant Singh, SHO Fazilka was patrolling to look for the suspicious persons in village Dulchi Ke, Palla Megha, Jakhraan under Sadar Police Station, Ferozepur when two motorcycle-borne persons were nabbed while one managed to flee away from the scene.

Both the arrested persons were identified as Gurdip Singh alias Rippan son of Phuman Singh of Kilche and Ranjit Singh alias Jeetu son of Bagicha Singh of village Paccharian.  One who managed to escape was also identified as Balwinder Singh alias Gandhi son of Mehal Singh of Maste Ke village, he added.

AIG further said, during the search operation of the arrested persons, 310 gm heroin and Rs.3 lakh in Indian currency as drug money.

During the preliminary investigation, it has come on the surface that this time the smugglers have adopted new modus operandi to smuggle the heroin to dodge the security agencies.  Balwinder Singh alias Gandhi who has his agriculture land across the fencing near the line of control at Gate No.186/M BOP Shame Ke, goes for cultivating the land, leave a tea cattle which has been converted with a space to hide the heroin and next day they collect the same and further supply in Ferozepur area, AIG said.

CI Wing on the disclosure of Balwinder Singh alias Gandhi recovered the cattle used for smuggling at the designated place.

He said, more clues are expected to come on the surface during the further investigation and the CI has got a grand success to break the supply chain of the smugglers, with the arrest of two smugglers with the new method of smuggling.
