Cops take on chemists selling banned drugs

Ferozepur, June 30, 2019:  The Government of Punjab and Director General Police – DGP are very serious about curbing the menace of drugs and directed the SSPs to arrange meetings with the chemists of the district.  

All out war against drugs have been launched by the Ferozepur police and in that context, meeting of all the Chemists of the district have been called at the sub-division level and they have been sensitized of the issue and cautioned  not to sell any medicine without prescription of the doctor.  The police have chalked out a plan to intensify the drive against drugs, to curb illegal sales in the district

SSP Sandeep Goel said, the police officers have been asked to listen to the grievances of chemists also and assure them that local police will not harass any innocent and will act only against law breakers.

SSP also made an appeal to all the Chemists of the Ferozepur  district to join us in this movement and not to sell the prohibited – habitual forming drugs.  He further said that he will deploy dummy customers and if anybody found violating the rules and regulations will be dealt accordingly.

Meeting of the chemists at the sub-division level were held at the sub-divisions level for making them appeal to join the war against drugs. Surinder Bansal, DSP (HQ) and Satnam Singh DSP (D) Rural had meeting with the chemists of Ferozepur and Mamdot.  Kirpa Singh SHO Ghall Khurd, Inspector Punshinderpal Singh SHO Mamdot and Hardev Parkash Sethi Chemist Pesident Mamdot, Sandeep Garg chemist President Mudki and Subodh Kakkar, President Ferozepur and Satvir Singh Mirjeke were present. In the meeting, DSPs said, we are also keeping a close eye and in case anyone comes to their shop asking for habit forming drugs, it should be informed to the nearest police station.

On the other hand, giving assurance to the police to cooperate in the war against drugs, the Chemists said, in case any medical store is found selling the habit forming drugs, the association will not support him for proceeding as per the law.
