Cops freeze drug smuggler’s property worth Rs.1.22 cr under NDPS Act
Ferozepur, November 22, 2023: To put a complete check on the unscrupulous persons and anti-social elements involved in the illegal business of drugs in the state, the Ferozepur police has frozen property worth Rs.1,22,06,000 of Balwinder Singh alias Gola of Ferozepur village Shah Abu Bakkar falling in Zira police station, which he had brought illegally through money earned from drug smuggling, under Section 68-F(2) of NDPS Act 1985, after getting orders from the competent authority
Deepak Hillori, SSP informed that the teams of gazetted officers are working under the tutelage of Randhir Kumar, SP(D) who are working day and nine to monitor and bring on record the persons involved in the illegal trade of banned intoxicant substances.
SSP informed that Balwinder Singh was booked on recovery of 260 gm of heroin during February 2016 under the NDPS Act and punished with 10 years rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs.1 lac. He said, the police cops after verification of the property of the accused of 64 marlas residential house in village Shah Abu Bukkar valuing Rs.71,70,000, another 26 marlas residential house valuing Rs.41,94,000 in the same village, tractor valuing Rs.8,42 lac of Sukhwinder Singh brother of Balwinder Singh alias Gola, having the total value of Rs.1,22,06,000 made from illegal means. Today, the freezing orders were passed out to these properties by the DSP and SHO of Ferozepur Cantt police station.
On scrutiny of the record, it has come to the surface that five cases under the NDPS Act have been registered against Balwinder Singh alias Bhola at Zira, Ferozepur, and Moga.
Divulging with more details, SSP said that during the year 2023, in 28 cases, the illegal properties valued at Rs.13,78,64,902 of notorious smugglers have been confiscated and now the drug smugglers cannot sell or order his property till further orders from the Competent Authority. He said, three more such cases have been forwarded to the Competent Authority in Delhi and another ten cases are under scrutiny for getting the freezing orders.
