Col  Sudhakar invents JAYA-RAKESH Beehive,  plans to generate employment for youths after retirement

Ferozepur March 13, 2018: Col Dr.SVS Sudhakar from Andhara Pardesh, presently posted in this border town, having a hobby of bee-keeping by incidentally meeting a roadside Rakesh – a bee-keeping, have made exhaustive study in production and marketing of honey and other Agro-based products since 2012.

Both his mother and wife have been associated in this profession under Grand Somasis Aviary and Composite Agro Farms at Hyderabad based with twin women registered enterprise – Mrs.S.V,Jayalakshmi – mother and Mrs.Manju Bala Educationist – wife.

Col Sudhkar was posted at Military Dairy Farm in 2015 and studied closely and minutely the agriculture-based professions and motivated by bee-keeping farmer started with the purchase of two boxes. Presently, our family is having more than 100 boxes and for the first time we have invented 20 frames box instead of 10 frames and in one time, around 20-22 kg honey can be extracted and there is no need to attach the super box on it.

Divulging the details, Col Sudhakar said, after a detailed study, presently in modern bee keeping, two types of boxes are regularly being used – Warre Hive and Langstroth Hive but we have developed a very practical and workable design of hive given the name JAYA-RAKESH Beehive which is modified and improved Langstroth hive.

He said it consists of a bigger box with 20 vertical frames in single super. It consists of a bigger box with 20 vertical frames in single super. This was found to be very practical in creating the large colony of bees which results not only in the large quantity of brood but more than the double quantity of honey (about 12-20 kilograms of honey per harvest) as against 3-5 kilograms of honey per harvest in Langstroth hive. The principle of honey production is in fact directly proportional to the number of bees in the colony by weight.

The newly invented hive is tested for cost, production, maintenance etc. and my mother, wife and Rakesh has a great contribution to this, he added.

Since the bee-keeping is a migratory process, it is easy to transport from one place to another, depending upon the availability of environment and availability of natural resources, said Col Sudhakar.

Col Sudhakar said my aim to convert my hobby for generating employment for the youths and even I plan to adopt this profession after retirement.

He said I will start with minimum 1500 such boxes which will be given employment to around 40 person and the minimum wages of Rs.10,000, if monitored with dedication, scientifically and systematically.
