Christian devotees observe Good Friday with enthusiasm
Ferozepur, April 15, 2017: Local Christians took part in the annual ‘Way of the Cross’ processions held in observance of Good Friday, commemorating the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, in the town on Friday and offered prayers in churches.
“Good Friday is the day when Lord Jesus was crucified. The day is observed with reverence by the Christian community throughout the world,” said father Virgis C.“On this day, Christians observe fast, offer prayers, meditate and take initiatives that help in maintaining peace and harmony among the people” he informed.
There was resentment among the community to observe ‘Digital India Day’ on April 14, the day observed by Christians world over as Good Friday.
Processions were taken out in various areas of the city, before finally reaching at Sant Thomas Catholic Church at local Icche Wala road. During the procession, various put on displays and acts to make on-lookers aware about the importance of observing the day.
Amidst a solemn mood, scores of believers paid tributes to Jesus Christ in reverence en-route the holy procession.
