BSF RECOVERS HUGE CONSIGNMENT AT BOP WAN UNDER FEROZEPUR SECTOR
The ever vigilant BSF personnel have seized twenty packets of contraband, suspected be heroin, two pistols, two magazines, Seventeen Rounds of ammunition and two Pakistani mobiles with two Pakistani SIM cards in the area of Responsibility of Border Out Post WAN, Ex-87 BN BSF, Amarkot, Sector Ferozepur.
Giving details of the seizure, R K Thapa, DIG BSF, Ferozepur Sector, said that keeping in view of the vulnerability of border from smuggling point of view especially due to high growth of wheat crops which gives cover to the smugglers and Anti-National Elements, special operational guidelines had been issued to further strengthen border domination to check the menace of narcotics smuggling and activities of Anti National Elements on Punjab Border.
The DIG said that the troops were on high alert as intelligence inputs were received regarding threat of smuggling from the area of BOP Wan, Ex-87 Bn BSF, Ferozepur Sector. On the intervening night of 13th/14th April, 2015, ambush laid by BSF troops of BOP Wan, observed some suspicious movement of Pakistani Smugglers near Border Security fence during the wee hours. They were trying to insert a plastic pipe in it. Movement was also noticed on the Indian side by the BSF.
“Immediately, our troops challenged them to stop but the smugglers did not pay any heed and continued with their aggressive posture. Sensing danger to their lives and to check their further misadventure, BSF troops fired in self defense. However, the smugglers managed to espcape taking cover of darkness and fully grown crops. The area was immediately cordoned off and during the search, the BSF troops recovered twenty packets of contraband, suspected be heroin, two pistols, two magazines, Seventeen Rounds of ammunition and two Pakistani mobiles”, said DIG Thapa
It is need to be mentioned that the BSF had effected huge quantity of heroin, FICN, Weapons, Magazines, ammunition and other items during the year 2014.
