BSF, Police in joint opt recover 3.415 kg heroin in Ferozepur
Ferozepur, August 13, 2023: The Border Security Force (BSF) – known as the first defence line of India and the Punjab Police teams in a joint operation carried out, during the on-going campaign against bad criminals and anti-drug movement, recovered 3.425 kg heroin.
Divulging with details, SSP Deepak Hillori said, as per the guidelines of the DGP Punjab, all-out effort are being to suppress the incidents of anti-social and mischievous elements by the police teams constituted for the purpose, under the supervision of gazetted police (GOs) officers, who are working diligently.
A team under the supervision of Randhir Kumar, SP(I) of Surinder Kumar Bansal, DSP(D and Abhinav Chohan, SHO police station Sadar, were patrolling in the area of Machhiwada ahead of Independence Day celebrations, of suspicious nature persons when a tip off was received that some packets of heroin has been kept in the paddy fields of Harnek Singh of village Machhiwada. Working swiftly on the in-put, a joint operation was carried out by 136 Battalion BSF and police team and three packets of heroin having total weight of 3.425 kg were seized.
He said, a case has been registered under NDPS Act against the unknown persons and further investigations are on with special focus on the links of persons of Indian side with the counterparts across the border.
