Railways organize exhibition of RDSO approved critical items
Ferozepur, December 31, 2020: Railways procure various items/equipments to the extent of approximate Rs. 25,000 crores through various approved vendors. Railways being a complex and safety conscience organisation have to ensure proper quality and timely delivery of critical items to maintain its service. This is possible only through a proper supply chain mechanism in which approved vendors play important roles. The railways technical advisor and consultant namely R.D.S.O. (Research designs and standards Organisation)/Production unites (PUs) does the approval process for vendors. Some are also approved by the Railway themselves. However the availability of approved vendors are limited and therefore Railways has decided to enhance its vendor base.
In this connection FZR division has arranged the exhibition of some RDSO approved critical items at Electric Loco Shed, Ludhiana for appreciation, encouragement and development of prospective vendors.
Exhibition was inaugurated by Rajesh Agarwal, Divl. Railway Manager, Firozpur in the presence of Kundan Lal and Krishan Kumar, Assistant Director under Ministry of MSME and Gurmit Singh Kular, President of Federation of Industrial and Commercial Organisation(FICO) and various stakeholders, Ludhiana.
Aim of the exhibition is to provide opportunity to the interested vendors to take a physical look at the items having limited vendor base, for better appreciation and understanding the complexity of the design and application of the items involved. Prospective vendors would also be guided about the technical specifications of the items and process of registration with RDSO.
85 nos critical items are displayed with QR code, some major items like Axle Mounted Disc Brake system for LHB type coaches, Standardized Brake Disc for LHB coaches, Air Spring Failure indication cum Brake Application (FIBA) device, Solid State Block Proving Axle counter (SSBPAC) (Digital) for double line and single line, Porcelain 9 Ton insulators, Air suspension Control equipments for air spring assemble system with ICF / LHB type bogie, Electro Pneumatic brake system for EMU, DMU and MEMU stock of Indian Railways, Relay point contactor unit, Porcelain Bracket insulator and Porcelain Stay Arm insulator.
It is expected that exhibition will help in development of new vendors and increasing the vendor base for procurement of RDSO approved items over Indian Railways, said DRM Ferozepur.
