BSF Ferozepur Hosts Half Marathon and 10K Run to Boost Fitness and Anti-Drug Awareness
Ferozepur, February 1, 2025: Sector HQ BSF Ferozepur successfully organised a 21 km Half Marathon and a 10 km Run today, intending to promote the Anti-Drug Campaign and encourage fitness among the border population. BSF Jawans, officers, and border youth, including both men and women from the Ferozepur and Tarn Taran districts, enthusiastically participated in both events.
The events, which started at 0650 hrs and 0740 hrs respectively, saw participation from 218 BSF troops and 217 border youth from various border villages, including Wan, Dal, Rajjoke, Khemkaran, Ratoke, Mehdipur, Gajal, Kalia under Tarn-Taran District and Hazara Singh Wala, Gatti Matter, Dona Mater, Lakha Singh Wala, Tindiwala, Chandiwala, Maboke, Chak Bange Wala, Machchiwara, Gatti Rahim Ke, Kalu Arain under Ferozepur District.
The 21 km Half Marathon was flagged off from Sector HQ BSF Ferozepur, while the 10 km Run started from K V School No. 2. Both events concluded at the ‘Shan-e-Hind’ Gate, JCP Hussainiwala.
A prize distribution ceremony was held after the events, where the top 03 civil participants in each event were awarded prizes. The top 3 civil participants in the 21 km marathon – Ramandeep Singh S/O Balkar Singh R/O Vill- Gatti Rahim Ke, Jaswinder Singh S/O Panju Singh R/O Vill- Kalu Arain, and Ravinder Singh, S/O Gurdeep Singh R/O Vill- Lakha Singh Wala. The top 03 civil participants in the 10 km run are Sukh Chain Singh S/O Ajeet Singh R/O Vill- Tindiwala, Gurpreet Singh, S/O Budh Prakash R/O Vill- Lakha Singh Wala, and Prabjit Singh S/O Trilochan Singh R/O Vill- Kalia.
Complimentary gifts, including shoes, were distributed to all participants who participated in practice sessions for the upcoming Bordermen Marathon 2025, set to take place in Amritsar on February 23, 2025. Medals and DIG’s commendation cards were awarded to the top 10 BSF participants in each event.
Brig Vijai Singh Rana (Retd), DIG Sector HQ BSF Ferozepur, addressed the border youth, appreciating their enthusiasm despite the harsh weather conditions. He congratulated all participants for successfully spreading awareness about the Anti-Drug Campaign and promoting fitness.
The DIG also encouraged participants to take part in the upcoming Bordermen Marathon 2025, scheduled to be held in Amritsar on February 23, 2025.
The events aimed to promote a healthy lifestyle, emphasizing the importance of cleanliness and fitness among the border population.
