Farmers submit memorandum in the name of PM through DC

Ferozepur, May 12, 2016 : The farmers of Bharti Kissan Union (Rejewal) group today sat on dharna in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office to register their protest with regard to their demands which include the minimum compensation of Rs.20,000 per acre to a farmer in the event of any natural calamities.

Later, a memorandum was also submitted to the DC led by Lakhwinder Singh of BKU(R) Youth Wing Punjab in the name of Prime Minister, Narender Modi.

 

He said, the agriculture profession in the country is in danger. Because of anti-farmer policies the farmers are under debt, The farmers are committing suicides.

He further said, there is no provision for waive off of loans of the farmers under heavy debts and there is a need to immediate struck off all of their pending loans.

Lakhwinder Singh also demanded tax-free diesel for the farmers and compensation amount should be increased to the minimum of Rs.20,000 per acre in the event of any natural calamities.

Present among others on this account were, Pargat Singh, Manmohan Singh, Secretary Punjab, Gurzar Singh Treasurer, Omkar Singh General Secretary and Harbans Singh Kaura, District President.
