Ferozepur, March 8, 2023: Bharti Kisan Union (BKU) – Ekta Sidhpur today celebrated International Women’s Day (IWD) at village Doda in Muktsar district and appealed to women to join the protests with the farmers for their rights.

International Women’s Day (IWD) is celebrated annually on March 8 as a focal point in the women’s rights movement, bringing attention to issues such as gender equality, and violence and abuse against women.

Women’s Day was celebrated today at village Doda by the organization of Bharatiya Kisan Union Ekta Sidhupur. In this event, women participated in a huge number under the tutelage of Surit Singh Aulakh from village Aulakh, General Secretary Block Malout and Master Sarban Singh Aulakh.

On occasion, State President Jagjit Singh Dallewal also reached and addressed the women participants to protect their rights since February 14 and urged them to participate in the protest along with the farmer heroes at all times. This conference was very successful.

Nowadays farmers under the banner of BKU Ekta Sidhpur are sitting on dharna while two farmers and one woman are also on hunger strike demanding to allow land between two fences at Indo-Pak border which they or their fore-fathers had developed for more than four decades.
