Bike-lifter gang busted in Ferozepur: Two held, 27 motorcycles recovered
Ferozepur, March 31, 2021: Ferozepur Police claimed to have busted a bike-lifter gang on Wednesday with recovery of 27 motorcycles.
The main accused identified as Gurpreet Singh of Lakho Ke Behram and Neeraj of Basti Shekhan in Ferozepur were arrested while the third accomplice Manpreet Singh alias Sonu of Jhoke Mohr, who managed to escape, is yet to be nabbed.
SSP Bhagirath Singh Meena said the alleged accused were involved in bike lifting and further selling and some of the stolen bikes have been given by Gurpreet Singh to his brother Manpreet Singh.
He said, ‘Both the accused have a criminal background in already registered cases. While Gurpreet Singh and Neeraj in case of June 2020 under Section 302, 201 of Cr.PC and Neeraj alias Niri in the cases of 2012, 2013 and 2019 under Sections 380, 399 and402 and 457 of Cr.PC”.
SSP further said, “Bike theft cases were being reported in the past and working on a tip-off, the police team Birinder Singh, DSP(City) and Manoj Kumar, SHO managed to nab two accused identified as Gurpreet Singh of Lakho Ke Behram and Neeraj of Basti Shekhan in Ferozepur with 27 stolen motor cycles while the third accomplice Manpreet Singh alias Sonu of Jhoke Mohr, who managed to escape, will also be arrested shortly”. Meanwhile, both will be produced in the court to get police remand for further investigation and more recoveries are expected to come on surface.
