Bharat Ke Veer Ultra Marathon-2017 – a run in the memory of martyrs
Ferozepur December 2, 2017: A team of six runners headed by Samir Singh – a renowned marathon runner – are running "Bharat Ke Veer Ultra Marathon – 2017" sponsored by Akshay Kumar, Bollywood Actor in support of Martyrs.
This Ultra Marathon was flagged off by Sh. JS Oberoi, VSM, DIG SHQ Amritsar on 01 Dec 2O'17 at 0630 AM from JCP Attari, Amritsar during fully charged atmosphere in presence of BSF Officers and Jawans on the occasion of 52nd Anniversary of BSF Raising Day.
Samir Singh is a renowned marathon runner from a Village called Kanaheda, Distt.- Mandsaur, Madhya Pradesh. He comes from a farmer's family. He started running at the age of 35 & soon discovered his love for long-distance running. He and his team of 06 runners are going to run 'Bharat Ke veer Ultra Marathon covering a distance of approx. 15,663 Kms along the land borders and coastline of India to commemorate the Martyrs. This marathon will pass through 24 States and 07 Union Territories (approx. through 1000 cities & villages).
Samir Singh and his team will run approx. 100 Kms daily and it will take them 05 months to complete the run. This 'Bharat Ke veer Ultra Marathon will finish at JCP Attari Amritsar tentatively on 01 April 2018. A route for the first leg will cover, Amritsar, Ferozepur, Fazilka and Abohar in Punjab.
For the first time, Samir Singh and his team will run more than 10,000 Kms to show their love and respect to Soldiers for their service to Society and Country. RUN FOR CAUSE, RUN FOR HEROES, RUN FOR BHARAT KE VEER. Border Security Force is extending full support to this event and will provide all necessary assistance to the runner’s enroute wherever BSF is located.
