Ferozepur, September 13, 2015: To discuss the burning problems being faced by the unaided schools the Conference of the Association of Private Unaided Schools of Punjab (APUSF) was held on Saturday at Shanti Vidya Mandir, for healthy discussions and to work out some mechanism to give a purposeful education.
The conference was chaired by Rajesh Rudhra, State President, APUSF and present among others were Kulbhushan Garg, District Presdient,Capt V.K.Syal, Treasurer, S.C.Sexana, General Secretary, Anirudh Gupta, Sr.Vice President.
The Conference was attended by the representatives of the managements of unaided schools of Ferozepur District.
In Punjab alone, there are about 2,000 schools which provide employment to four lakh individuals.
Addressing the conference, Rajesh Rudhra said, the unaided schools in Punjab are facing the maximum problems but we are not to back out. The purpose of this conference is to work-out some mechanism to give a purposeful education with united front.
He said, the aided school managements have to face on six fronts – Central Govt., State Govt., High Court, Parents, Media and Students and pressure on schools will bring down the quality of education.
For extending various facilities to the students at the school level, ultimately the funds have to be generated from the students itself to cope with the unnecessary financial burden, he added.
Giving example of unity of Haryana unaided schools, Rudhra said, the road tax in Haryana was withdrawn with untidily closing the schools for only seven days.
With regard to commercialization of education, Rudhra said, the schools will have to be commercial, if they are being charges commercially by the government.
Since we foresee the various problems in the existing set-up, the State election will be held shortly to plan strategy to fight with the government on the issues – safe school vahan policy, property tax, road Tax, sports fee being charged by Punjab Government, electricity charges on commercial basis, building fire safety and sanitary NOCs on yearly basis etc.
