Dhillon assured them of every possible help to get their demand fulfilled in the interest of the quality education in the state run schools.

Kushal Singhi Convener of the Association and Mukesh Saini the state body member from Ludhiana briefed the MLA that the education department has so far appointed 1914 English teachers through direct recruitment while the 25% promotion quota is still lying vacant. The department is denying them promotions on the pretext of the absence of rules for it while the reality is that the file for the amendment of these rules is not being cleared just because of the lack of will power on the part of the department itself. The Association has been trying to get the matter resolved for long and has submitted their memorandum to the Education minister, the DPI and the Principal Secretary through many Cabinet Ministers and the DCs of various districts.

The Punjab and Haryana High Court has also asked the State Govt. to make its stand clear on the issue of promotions in the subject of English.

Dhillon expressed his complete unanimity with the demands of the Association and promised to take up the matter with the Education Minister Daljit Singh Cheema at the earliest.

Sukhdhir Singh Sekhon,  President of The Navchetna Child Welfare Committee also supported the Association&#39s cause whole heartedly.

Those amongst present were Parvinder Singh Lalchian, Mukhtyar Singh Firozepur,  Sherpal Goyal Mansa, Nikku Grewal and others.
