Anti-Drug Campaign: Ferozepur police seize 3.50 kg heroin, total of 80 kg recovery during 2023
Ferozepur, November 17, 2023: Actives cops of the Ferozepur police, in the anti-drug campaign, have seized a total of 80 kg of heroin and other drug material during the current year 2023 including 3.500 kg recovered along with 5 accused, today in two different cases. Earlier, in one day, 7.030 kg of heroin was recovered in the Makhu area of the district.
Divulging with the details, Randhir Kumar, SP(D) along with Bhupinder Singh DSP HQ and SBS Sandhu DSP D said, in one case, on a tip-off to the patrolling party at the ‘naka’ 1.500 kg heroine with three accused and one car without number was seized from Ferozepur-Fazilka Road T-Point Mamdot from three persons Shinderpal Singh alias Shinder (25) of Ruhela Hazi, Malkit Singh alias Kirat (22) of Lakha Singh Hittar and Sonu of Nihala Kilcha (Mamdot) (25). Malkit Singh is already facing three cases of 20212 and 2022, under various Sections of IPC at Mamdot police stations. In another case, swiftly working on a tip-off, 2 kg heroin was found from two accused, identified as Anmol Singh and Anurag alias Saggu of village Varia in Makhu block. Anmol Singh was involved in three cases in 2019 and 2022 including one under the NDPS Act.
He further disclosed that during the year 2023, the alert police cops have seized 80 kg heroin, 186 kg poppy husk, 12 kg opium, 1,05,540 habit-forming tablets, 1.525 kg intoxicant powder, 147 kg bhang and Rs.43.05 lakh drug money and arrested 647 accused in 521 cases registered.
This seizure is the outcome of the hard work of various police teams headed by GOs and the entire recovery represents a significant blow to the narcotics trade network operating in this area. The successful operation also demonstrates the effectiveness of the continuous surveillance and intelligence gathering carried out by the police force in their fight against drug-related crimes.
