Amritsar Train tragedy driver has not committed suicide, images on social media fake confirms DRM

Ferozepur, October 22, 2018: The misleading images and videos claiming train driver of the incident of killing of 60 persons on the railway track on Dushera festival day, has committed suicide viral on social media and the same are fake, confirmed DRM office Ferozepur.

Giving the clarification, Vivek Kumar, DRM said, the news of images and videos of a man hanging from the bridge are viral on social media to claim that DMU train driver involved in the tragic incident in Amritsar has committed suicide, are fake. The driver is safe and people should not have any doubt about this.

It is also said that the user who originally made the claim has deleted the tweet. The driver is reported to be in the safe custody of the Railways.

Making an appeal to the people, Kumar said, the people should not cross the railway tracks in the event of closure of railway gates and cross from the safe passages by using the over bridges and keep the safe distance from the tracks and trains.
