Ferozepur, February 15, 2022: Ahead of Assembly polls, on Monday, in a joint raid by police and excise officials, under  the supervision of  Gurinder singh Sandhu DC(X), Omesh Bhandari AC(X), Randhir Singh EO Ferozepur along with ETO Rajnish Sharma, EI Inderpal Singh, EI PS virk in the enclaves of Satluj River in the sorrounding villages Ali ke , Habib ka pattan, approximately 66000 litres of Lahan was recovered and destroyed on the spot, to avoid it’s misuse.
Also, 32 Trapaulines big were seized.

In fact, alcohol is a potent tool at the hands of the politicians to woo voters not only in the villages but also in the urban areas, as election fodder.

The border villagers don’t have many sources of income and have no choice except to do illicit liquor business as a source of income, without bothering its serious impacts on human lives.  Almost one or two members of every house, who is nabbed in such raids,  in  border villages are facing police cases.  In majority of the raids, they flee from the scenes leaving behind the extracted illegal liquor.

Ahead of polls, earlier also, the police and excise officials are keeping a close vigil over such activities in the border villages and the  raids lead to 4.15 lac ltr illicit liquor recovery from riverine belt of Sutlej in Ferozepur.
