Punjab DGP takes stock of law and order, 124 police stations identified as more affected
Ferozepur March 15, 2019: In view of coming Lok Sabha elections, Punjab DGP Dinkar Gupta along with his senior officers today had meeting with the police officers of Ferozepur Range, with regard to law and order and priorities in the state for safe and smooth conduct of elections, drugs, prevention of terrorist crime, police working and arrests of POs.
Ishwar Singh ADGP(STF), IG(STF), AIG(STF), IGP and SSP were also present in the meeting.
Speaking to the media persons, Dinkar Gupta DGP Punjab said, Ferozepur is a drug control border district and it is also a priority area.
He said the efforts will be made to arrest the POs for which the instructions been issued to the officers of Ferozepur and Fazilka districts.
In reply to the query about the gangsters’ active in the area, he said, this issue has also been discussed in today’s meeting. It is in our notice and special teams have also been conducted for the purpose, he said.
Commenting on Central Industrial Security Force -CISF in jail, he said, we have taken up with proposal of CISF with the Home Ministry during last year, which was approved after survey but there were some issues by CISF but now CRPF has now been approved and we hope to get after the elections to post on jails for access control.
On asking about any new planning especially in the border districts, after joining as DGP, he said, the drug issue has emerged in the past for which the government has done a lot of work by setting up STF and there is supply reduction but it is a continuous process. We are also working on the reorientation of strategy and doing a fine-tuning and we have learned from what has happened in the past two years.
He said, we have identified about 124 police stations of the state which are more affected or number of drug cases have been registered and 9 in Ferozepur and 4 in Fazilka, police stations have been identified and we will focus on them and the concerned SHO will be answerable and we will make DSPs also accountable as to what results they have produced on drug front.
On downing of morale of the Punjab Police in view of recent crime incidents in the city, he said, Punjab Police is a very courageous force, which has given about 1800 sacrifices. But continuous improvement is there and we will come up with new plans, training progrmmes and culture for our force.
