Pharmacists’ Association demands strict implementation of Section 42 of Pharmacy Act

Ferozepur, September 26, 2018: Pharmacist’s outfits celebrated World Pharmacists Day at Civil Hospital under the support of Harpreet Singh Thind, District President, Hanu Tiwari, Balraj Kumar and Sanjeev Arora and demanded the implementation of Section 42 of Pharmacy Act in public and private sectors – – which says that only registered pharmacists are permitted to dispense the medicines on prescription of register medical practitioners.

The theme of the current year is – Pharmacists are your medicines experts – and the purpose of World Pharmacists Day is to encourage activities that promote and advocate for the role of the pharmacist in improving health in every corner of the world.

Ravinder Luthra, General Secretary Punjab State Pharmacist Association highlighted the importance of pharmacists in our health system who have the vital role as in most of the countries, pharmacists is the basic qualification from B-Pharma to Doctor of Pharmacy.

He expressed over the decline in the standard of the profession for which the health department and drug authority are responsible. Now the Pharmacy Act Section 42 is not being implemented in the private and public sector and the medicines are being handled by the non-experts. 

Pankaj Sachdeva and Kuldeep Singh Khunger and Pardeep Rana former Pharmacists also underlined the problems being faced by the pharmacists and invited all such professionals to work sincerely and with the dedication to keep alive the importance of pharmacists.

Dr.Rajinder Machanda also expressed his concern over ignoring the role of pharmacists in our health system.
