Martyr Jagsir Singh cremated with full state honours in Ferozepur
Ferozepur, January 2, 2018: The mortal remains of Army jawan Jagsir Singh, who got martyred by becoming a target of snipers of Pakistan’s Baloch Regiment, were today consigned to flames with full state honours at his ancestral village Lohgarh in Ferozepur District.
Floral tributes were offered by laying wreaths by – Ramvir Deputy Commissioner Ferozepur, DIG Rajpurohoti, Bhupinder Singh Sidhu, SSP, Kamal Sharma, former BJP President, and National Executive Member, Inderjit Singh Zira former Cabinet Minister, Harjit Singh Sandhu, SDM and thousands of villagers of Lohgarh and adjoining villages despite the thick foggy weather.
A pall of gloom descended on Lohgarh village in Zira subdivision the day the news of Jagsir Singh attained martyrdom on Sunday following unprovoked firing by Pakistani forces on Indian Army post along the Line of Control in Nowshera sector of Jammu and Kashmir.
Jagir Singh got married in 2010 and was blessed with three kids Nigamjit Kaur 7, Gurmeet Kaur 5 and Jagdeep Singh 2 years old.
There was a pin drop silence at the cremation ground forbidding a teary adieu, the moment the state honours were given to the mortal remains by the team of Army jawans by reversing the arms and firing in the air, one of the villagers shouted slogan – Jagsir Singh Amar Rahe and Pakistan Murdabad.
One of the villagers Bahadur Singh a retired officer showing his sympathy with the deceased family members said, with the joining of Jagsir Singh the family was feeling comfortable and has settled his brother and one of his sister in Australia.
He urged the government to do something to stop the bloodshed in the Valley.
