Community Kitchen to provide low cost food to poor and homeless in Ferozepur

Ferozepur, April 20, 2017: As per the decision of Punjab Cabinet, District Administration will start Community Kitchen to provide food at the cost of Rs.10 to the poor and needy people from 11.00 am to 03.00 pm at the identified place, said Ramveer, IAS, Deputy Commissioner-cum- President of District Red Cross Society Ferozepur during the meeting of society.

Besides the district administration will also provide the “Crèche” facility to take care of the kids of working women, up to the age of 1 to 5 in the district administrative complex.

“Now a day, everybody is busy and both husband-wife are working. The district administration, with the help of Red Cross Society, will establish a crèche where the kids from the age of one to five will be taken care of shortly.  A committee has also been constituted to take action in this regard, said DC.

Several other issues including starting cutting and tailoring courses for poor and needy girls, special cosmetology courses for the girls belonging to weaker section, Blind home, providing books to the poor and needy students, distributing tricycles to the differently able persons, were also discussed.

On request by one of the member of Home for the Blind – presently being run voluntarily on public donations to provide free lodging and boarding besides educational assistance to the visually impaired inmates – for financial assistance to meet the vegetable expenses, the Deputy Commissioner graciously allowed to bear the same by the Red Cross Society.

Present among others on this occasion were Additional Deputy Commissioner (Gen.) Smt. Shruti Sharma, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) Sh. Vineet Kumar, Sh. Vneet Kumar SDM (Zira), S. Ranjit Singh Asst. Commissioner, S. Gurmeet SIngh Dhillon DDPO, Sh. Ashok Behal Secretary Red Cross, Dr. Renu Singla, Dr. Pardeep Aggarwal, Sh. Harish Monga, Sh. PD Sharma, Sh. AC Chawla, Sh. Madan Lal Tiwari, Sh. Inderjit Gogia, Dr. Satinder Singh, Dr. Rameshwar Singh, Smt. Naresh Kumari, a large number of official and non- official members of society were also present.
