Seminar on Clean Energy Technologies organized at SBS Tech Campus
Ferozepur, November 8, 2017: A one day All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) sponsored National Seminar on ‘Clean Energy Technologies’ was organized by Chemical Engineering Department of Shaheed Bhagat Singh State Technical Campus (SBSSTC), Ferozepur.
Chief Guest Dr. T S Sidhu, Director of SBSSTC, Ferozepur inaugurating the seminar highlighted the advantages of clean energy technologies as these technologies are eco-friendly. Dr. Rajiv Arora, Head of the Department welcomed the chief guest, keynote speakers, and participants to the seminar.
More than 200 faculty members and students from 25 different Universities and institutes participated in the seminar. Prof. V K Garg from the Central University of Punjab, Bathinda highlighted the role of Nuclear Energy in the present context. Prof. Ranjit Singh, Head of Mechanical Engg. Department of Beant College of Engg. & Technology, Gurdaspur delivered a keynote lecture on ‘Solar Energy Technologies’ in which he explained the advances in solar energy and possible research areas in the field of solar and photovoltaic renewable energy.
Dr A K Sarma, Scientist – E, from Sardar Swaran Singh National Institute of Bioenergy – Kapurthala presented the expert talk on ‘Technologies for Biomass conversion’ and provided the information on the huge potential of bioenergy in India.
A poster presentation competition was also organized. 40 participants displayed their posters and the best poster prizes were distributed by the Chief Guest, Dr. T S Sidhu. Dr. Vipan Kumar, Head of Chemical Engg. Department of Beant College of Engg. & Technology, Gurdaspur delivered an expert talk on ‘Biofuel production techniques’.
While presenting vote of thanks, Dr. Amit Arora encouraged the researchers to work in the emerging areas of renewable energy with a team spirit.
Dr. Rajiv Arora, Coordinator of the seminar, congratulated the winners and thanked keynote speakers and participants.
