Mid-Day Meal Office Employees and Cook Workers Union to sit on hunger strike from Feb 12
Feroepur, February 11, 2017: The Mid-Day Meal Office Employees and Cook Workers Union have once again announced to register their protest in view of dilly-dallying attitude of the government, against non regularization of temporary employees and other demands, by starting the hunger strike from Feb 12 at Chandigarh.
Giving this information, Parveen Sharma Jogipur, State and District President said, the Akali-BJP government have passed an Act in the Cabinet on December 16, to regularize the temporary employees which confined to papers only.
Rajesh Watts Press Secretary said, they workers have been compelled to adopt the path of proceeding on hunger strike for not regularising them despite the approval by the Cabinet.
He said, earlier the Action Committee has decided to sit on hunger strike and fast-unto-death on February 1 but later on assurance of the Personnel Department to take action in this regard, the same was cancelled but in spite of passing of nine days none of the department has initiated any action.
The Union leaders said, we are interested to solve the issue through a dialogue but the attitude of the government is not in favour of the workers. The Contractor Employees Action has also decided to participate in the agitation on February 13 at Chandigarh.
