Newly elected IMA President demands one-time policy for regulations of nursing homes in residential areas
Ferozepur, August 30, 2016: The newly elected Dr.R.L.Taneja, as President, Indian Medial Association, Punjab and Dr.Harsh Bhola as Hony. Secretary General said a word of honor to work towards betterment of the members as well as usher in a better doctor patient relations.
Dr.Taneja said, the prominent among the few issues still left to be done is the regularization of nursing homes running in residential areas and reiterated with the firm belief that the government will provide relief to the nursing homes which not only is the only means of livelihood to the employees but also is essential for efficient health services to the masses at an affordable rate.
A policy to notify this is eagerly awaited as most of the members would be benefitted, he added.
Dr.Teneja said, the government has done a commendable job in the form of PGEPHIS but the rates fixed under the scheme are very low and many hospitals are not able to participate. Also, there are various other issues which are a hindrance to the smooth functioning of the scheme and hence need to be looked into.
He further said, the other issues would also be taken with the appropriate authorities for taking an early decision like biomedical waste management, PCPNDT Act, laxity in implementation of the Punjab Medical protect act, filing of FIR against doctor without clearance from a medical board, commercial rates of electricity for clinics, rebates and allotment of land for small nursing homes.
Dr.Teneja and Dr.Bhola also said, the newly recruited doctors should be paid full wages and not made a mockery of medical profession by engaging on consolidated pay of Rs.15,000.
