No provision in budget for bifurcation of Ferozepur Rail Division to create Jammu Division
Railway Budget 2016 : No new rail for Punjab except sanction of 10 ROBs 19 Subway/RUB and survey provisions
Ferozepur, February 25, 2016 : Indian Railways, which is ranked as one of the largest railway networks in the world and considered as the lifeline of the nation, have disappointed the people of Punjab state with the presentation of Railway Budget 2016-17 by Brand Ambassador Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu as there is no provision for new rail line in Ferozepur Rail Division.
Giving this information in a press conference, DRM Anuj Parkash said, Apart from various provisions in the budget for extending the best services to the passengers, there is no provision of new rail in the division except the sanction of 10 Rail Over Bridges, 19 Rail Under Birdges/Subways and survey provision.
He further said, the survey of three routes – 181 KMs Pathankot-Joginder Nagar at a cost of Rs.0.71 crore, 42 KMs Dasuya-Hoshiarpur of Rs.0.06 crore and new work on 24Kms Rajpura-Mohali for Rs.406 core. A provision for new railway electrification work on Beas-Goindwal Sahib-Tarn Taran-Amritsar having approximate length of 72KMs at accost of Rs.45.21 crores have been made.
On asking about the bifurcation of Ferozepur Division to carve out Jammu Division, DRM confirmed that there is no provision in the rail budget of about Rs.150 crore required for the purpose.
Non- creation of Jammu Division is definitely having a pressure of work on the existing staff as Ferozepur is the biggest division which came into being in 1862 with 239 railway stations in Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh.
