Ravinder Singh Sandhu – two times MLA & CPS acquitted in Rail Roko case
Ferozepur, April 30, 2015: Ravinder Singh Sandhu popularly known as Babbal, two times MLA and Chief Parliamentary Secretary from Ferozepur Cantt constituency was acquitted in the case of stopping Punjab Mail train along with others.
Giving this information, counsel for Sandhu, Surinder Pal Singh said, about 7 years back, a case was registered against Ravinder Singh Sandhu, Harjinder Singh Karmu Wala, Balraj Singh and Lal Singh and 2 others. In this case, the court of Judicial Magistrate, Hira Singh, after hearing the arguments of both the sides, acquitted Ravinder Singh Sandhu and others terming them as guiltless.
It may be mentioned that during the campaign of Block Samiti elections in 2008, a case was registered against one of his close associate Mehar Singh Sandhu former Chairman Market Committee for keeping half kilogram opium. Giving political colours to this case at that time, Ravinder Singh Sandhu alongwith his supporters, the Ferozepur-Bhatinda rail line was blocked for about two and a half hour.
