DEO facilitates winners of Govt. School students in Spell Bee Competition
Ferozepur, April 1, 2022: The students and the teachers of the schools that secured the first three positions in the recently held Spell Bee Competitions were awarded testimonials at the felicitation ceremony held at the District Education Office here today.
A spelling bee is a competition in which contestants are asked to spell a broad selection of words, usually with a varying degree of difficulty. To compete, contestants must memorize the spellings of words as written in dictionaries, and recite them accordingly.
Government Senior Secondary School, Megha Rai had notched the first position in the district level Spell Bee Competition, whereas Government High School, Jandhu Wala, and Government High School, Mishriwala had grabbed the second and the third position respectively. Spell Bee Competition was run by Punjab Government under ‘Quality Component Project Innovation’ with the aim to enhance the spelling, vocabulary, and literally skills in English among the children and to prepare them for their academic and career progression.
District Education Officer (DEO) Chamkaur Singh Sran and Deputy DEO Komal Arora presented the awards of honour to the students and the teachers of these schools. While honouring the students, DEO praised their efforts of students and encouraged them to continue to learn the nuances of the English language. Meanwhile, Deputy DEO congratulated the teachers whose efforts got translated into success in this competition.
District Mentor and Lecturer in English Gurwinder Singh informed that these students proved their mettle after winning first positions in the school and block level Spell Bee Competition held earlier in the month of January.
